Welcome
The Tobago Branch of the TTSPCA was founded in late 1968. It is a privately run, non-profit making organisation whose main aim is exactly what the name says - to prevent cruelty to animals. It attempts to locate owners of lost animals, to rehome stray, rescued and unwanted animals, and endeavors to educate the public on caring for animals.
The TTSPCA is an Associate Member of the RSPCA and a member of WSPA but they do not fund us. For specific projects we can draw on their experience and obtain useful information and/or guidelines to ensure we maintain an adequate standard of care for the animals entrusted to us. The existence of the society is primarily due to legacies, grants, donations, and fund raising activities.
We now work with HSI (Humane Society International) on SPOTT (Spaying Prevents Overpopulation in Trinidad and Tobago) a spay/neuter project, in collaboration with our main organisational body in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Except for the routine daily care and maintenance provided by a permanent staff everything is done by volunteers. All money received is used 100% for the care of the animals and maintenance of the facility.
